My last image in the BW challenge is dedicated to Mayor Tom Menino who sadly passed away this week after battling cancer. Mayor Menino spent the last 20 years leading Boston, and ALL of its citizens, with a compassionate, strong, and visionary hand. He governed with his conscience more so than his politics and, for that, Boston is a much better city. He will be deeply missed.
One of the most significant changes in Boston during Mayor Menino’s tenure was The Big Dig. The Zakim Bridge is a key architectural focal point for the city as a result of the massive highway project. Part of that project was taking many unsightly industrial areas along the Charles River and turning them into beautiful green areas for all to enjoy. Some of these green areas provide spectacular views of the Zakim Bridge on brightly lit pathways. If you get a chance, get out and enjoy the views of the bridge as well as the vision of Mayor Tom Menino.
