Coast of Maine – Lighthouses and Osprey
May 11, 2016 - May 15, 2016$495
This photo workshop focuses on the mid-Maine coastal region around Damariscotta, Boothbay and Port Clyde areas. Coincidentally, Osprey are very active during our workshop dates preying on the Alewives that come inland to spawn. So, besides Lighthouses, lobster boats and pretty Maine harbors plan to get in some action photographing Osprey as they sweep into waters right in front of you to get their meals (Alewives). You won’t need real long lenses as the Osprey are fairly close to you when they’re in action. A 70-200mm in many cases is long enough. Sometimes a 300mm focal length helps as well.
The workshop starts on Wednesday May 11th at 3pm at our hotel (Hotel Pemaquid) & ends around noon on Sunday May 15th
The mid coast of Maine is home to several photogenic lighthouses and we will spend time exploring them along with the areas around them along the coast. Two Lighthouses that are the highlight of this area and ones we’ll visit include Pemaquid Point Light, Marshall Light. We will work on subject development with an emphasis on travel photography and scenics when we’re not capturing Osprey in flight. That includes evening and early morning photography when the light is great for photography.
During the days we will work in the field with attendees as we explore a variety of subject matter. We will have two image review sessions during this workshop.
In this workshop we will cover:
Use of Lenses
Use of Filters
Shooting in Low Light
Action photography (birds in flight)
