The forces of nature are powerful but, even they cannot withstand the test of time. Nothing can. It feels, too often, that time passes slowly when, in fact, time is fleeting. We mistakenly assume there will be more time; another chance or another day. Time is not on our side. The clock and calendar move at the same methodical pace, every day, while we try to keep up. Time changes everything.
Time offers us only opportunity. We are afforded chances to meet people, travel, learn things, see things, rejoice successes, find love, give love, learn, grow, reflect, and passing time. However, the same passing of time brings foolish blunders, heartbroken moments, being hurt, hurting others, pain, poor judgement, mistakes, selfishness, and wasting time. I see passing time as a comforting nap on a quiet afternoon. I see wasting time as investing yourself in anything that has no meaning or purpose. Time gives and time takes away.
In truth it is easy to avoid wasting time. First, share your time wisely for it is the most precious thing of all. Then simply embrace everything that makes you happy and cherish those that matter to you because, inevitably, our time is limited. Be good to yourself for in doing so you will be good for others. Manage your time with positivity and little will be wasted.
In the past few weeks I have been, once again, reminded that time is in very short supply. Growing up is about good days and bad days and the opportunities they both present. Tomorrow is not promised to any of us. Make the most of today and remember that time waits for no one.
