As a photographer I am on the go a lot. In the course of a year I take tens of thousands of images and in every scenario I want to create the best images possible. A significant part of the creative process is having the right tool for the job. When Bob and I are in the field running one of our workshops (New England Photo Workshops) we travel near and far for very creative… opportunities. When I run a Hunts Photo Walk we cover mostly local areas in and around greater Boston that also offer great creative opportunities. When I am out on my own, exploring and creating, I strive to be as versatile in my photography as possible. Having a highly capable camera and some good lenses with me at all times is a necessity.
A few weekends ago while on a Hunts Photo Walk in Portsmouth NH we were fortunate to have a wonderful blue hour develop as we made our way around Prescott Park. I had chosen to carry the Olympus system on the walk due to its smaller, lighter build. However, I also chose the Pen F for this exact photo opportunity at blue hour. The colors of the bridge, the reflections, and the beautiful sky made for a very dynamic scene that I knew the Olympus sensor would render beautifully. The Olympus sensors feature a unique color palette that is stunning. Get Olympus.
The new Pen F with a 17mm f1.8 lens captured this scene just as my eyes and heart saw it. We spent the rest of the night wandering the historic seaside port of Portsmouth in search of other great scenes and, thankfully, the more lightweight Pen system meant less wear and tear on my body but, most importantly, I did not give up any creative capability. The mirrorless cameras from Olympus are a perfect fit for any photographer who is on the go. Travel Light and Create fast.
